I absolutely love this plug. For years I covered my shower drain with a silicone pad but after a shower I would forget to cover the drain and the smell was absolutely horrid! My bedroom and bathroom constantly smelled like a sewer so I finally decided to look for something to help. I ordered this plug, cut it down to size and it fit perfectly! The smell was gone instantly! I no longer have to suffer through the horrible smell and can walk in to a clean smelling bathroom! You will not regret this purchase!

The MagClean Shower Drain Hair Catcher has made my life easier. The fit was spot on for my 3 inch drain opening, and it has a couple of useful innovations. The magnetic pop‑open basket makes cleaning simple, and the magnetic trap door does a great job keeping drain odors from creeping into the bathroom. I also like that my shower’s built‑in drain screen sits right on top of it, giving me an extra layer of protection against clogs.

The only drawback is the smaller basket size. It fills up quicker than larger catchers I’ve used, so I find myself cleaning it more often. Thankfully, the cleaning process takes just a few seconds, so it hasn’t been a real inconvenience.

Hair clogs are a pain to deal with. Trap clean out is the smelly and messy part. It's bad enough to work on the sinks in the bathroom, but the shower and bath can be a bit more to deal with as the traps are in the subfloor. Or even worse, if your house is on a slab, the trap is buried in the slab. I've strived to reduce the hair and other foreign debris that goes down those drains, as I live on a slab. The shower is the nasty one because the water pipe is about a foot long before the j-trap. This allows a column of water to build up and slowly drain over time. When the water is starting to backup into the shower, you generally have a big lump of debris to clear. Or as my son said, clear out the mouse from the drain. I had previously found this plastic strainer that actually sat above the level of the shower floor. It works fine, but you step on it in the process of showering and it's not really comfortable. I finally found this drain hair catcher and liked its features. Not only does it have a hair catching basket, but it also has an odor blocker at the end. Essentially a little trap door opened by the weight of the water on it and kept closed by magnets. The plastic sieve trap is also in two halves kept together by magnets. This enables thorough cleaning when you pull it to remove and dispose of the hair it has collected. My only nit is that it is an open hole. I would have liked a cover plate of some sort. As the metal used is non-ferrous, a magnetic topper won't work and there is no screw or clamp points. Still, a very good and elegant solution for the shower.

So close to fitting my sink drain!! Not the products fault, the inner pipe on my sink has thread and this couldn't fit. So frustrating. But the product itself works. I tested it with running water and it easily opens and closes immediately after the water stops running. I can see how the vortex tabs on the silicone help drain the water faster. And the removable filter would be good at catching hair and easy enough to pull apart to clean. Looks pretty solid and would do the job of preventing backflow or any odor from coming out of the drain. Easy install, no tools required (probably just to remove your old drain).

This has been perfect for keeping hair out of my shower drain! Anyone with long hair knows that the drain can become a tiny, disgusting science experiment if you don’t stay on top of it. 😂 I love that this catches the hair before it disappears down the drain, making cleanup so much easier and helping prevent those dreaded clogs. The magnetic design keeps it in place, and the odor-sealing plug with the auto-closing valve is a nice bonus for keeping unpleasant drain smells where they belong.It’s such a simple little addition, but it saves me from having to constantly dig hair out of the drain—and that alone makes it worth having!

The vortex design moves water through the drain without pooling, and the materials feel durable. The installation is simple and takes only a moment, with no tools needed.

This hair catcher has been a great addition to my bathroom. It was relatively simple to install, after my husband got the other drain unscrewed, and fit nicely in the drain opening. I especially like the removable magnetic hair catcher because it makes cleaning much easier and more hygienic as nobody wants to have to touch that nastiness. Water flows through quickly, and I haven’t noticed any unpleasant odors or backflow. It feels well made and works as expected. Overall, a convenient and practical product.
